Steel for packaging producers APEAL pick Pelican

Pelican has won the Europe-wide brief to support APEAL, the Association of European Producers of Steel for Packaging.

APEAL used the PRCA’s free ‘Find a PR Agency’ (FAPRA) service to link up with PRCA member Pelican, which specialises in food and drink and packaging PR and communications.

The federation is made up of Europe’s four leading multi-national producers of steel for packaging who together represent some 95% of the total European production.

Pelican has been briefed to promote the environmental, economic and consumer benefits of steel for packaging. The campaign will target brand owners and packaging industry professionals across the continent.

Patricia Mobbs Apeal communications manager said: ‘Apeal recognised the need for additional support in order to achieve our communications objectives and we wanted a PR consultancy with experience in food, drink and packaging. Pelican persuaded us with their well-honed creative pitch.’

Michael Bennett, managing director of Pelican said: ‘Steel for packaging has a great story to tell, it is unrivalled at preserving and protect products, is well liked by consumers, and with European recycling rates of over 74%, it is the most widely recycled packaging material.’

Francis Ingham, PRCA director general, said: ‘We are pleased that we have had a hand in creating this alliance and wish them a prosperous business relationship.’
