Pelican swoops in to collect innovation award

Saddleworth-based Pelican Communications is celebrating after winning a top industry award at the Manchester Publicity Association’s Inspiration Awards.

The communications consultancy walked away with the award for Best Innovation at the second annual ceremony which celebrates innovation in the media, film, creative and digital industries.

The accolade recognises the consultancy’s innovative communications campaign for British Frozen Food Federation (BFFF). This involved the development of a new Cool Cookery website and smartphone app as well as blogger relations and a social media campaign to advocate the benefits of frozen food and encourage more people to buy it.

Rachel Ferguson of Pelican’s specialist food and drink team said: “Our campaign continues to play a significant role in communicating the benefits of frozen food and encouraging more consumers to choose frozen.  We’ve also engaged with celebrity chefs who have advocated the benefits of frozen, which is a real coup.

She added: “Getting our work recognised as part of such a prestigious awards scheme is a superb feeling.”

This is the latest accolade for the consultancy which has also been short-listed for a further 11 awards including Best Small Agency in the Northern Marketing Awards 2014 and Outstanding Public Relations Consultancy in the national PRide Awards. The results of these nominations will be known this coming Autumn.

Pelican’s managing director Michael Bennett said: “As a business we are growing faster than ever and we feel we are doing some brilliant work. For that to be recognised by respected peers throughout the industry is a great recognition for everyone at Pelican.”
